Townsville Intercultural Centre has recently received funding from the Department of Education and Training for the Skilling Queenslanders for Work project. Skilling Queenslanders for Work is a unique opportunity for unemployed Townsville residents to access funding allowing them to build their skills to give them the competitive edge they need to gain employment in this tough climate Townsville is currently in.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work focuses on developing an individual’s skills, supporting them to begin a learning pathway to a Certificate III qualification, and providing direct assistance to those Queenslanders that need extra support to enter and stay in the workforce.
Skilling Queenslanders for work allows eligible participants, to access funding to receive another Certificate III qualification, regardless if they have already completed a Certificate III qualification before! Townsville Intercultural Centre has varying courses that can suit your needs and can also assist with resume and cover letter writing, job interview training and preparation and work experience. Throughout this year alone Townsville Intercultural Centre has helped over 100 people complete training through our SQW project, and of those people over 50% have found employment. Currently, students are training in the aged and disability sector and employment outcomes are looking promising judging from feedback from employers and local employment opportunities.
